FOR MY CLIENTS REVIEW AND SIGNATURE
Some state boards in the USA have addressed complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practices by certain standards of care within a "defined scope of practice." Utah has not - so I have posted a statement according to what other Health Freedom states require.
The following information is to enable an informed choice about a decision to engage my services. Please read carefully and let me know if there is any part you do not understand. I work with clients in person as well as by Zoom, phone or Facetime. Our work together includes your intention on what to accomplish. Although I will share my skills and abilities, my work with you is only a resource. As an intentional and conscious participant in your growth, you will ultimately take all responsibility for any actions related to your health and well-being.
Client Agreement & Disclosure Statement
I, ________________________________________, understand that Tamara Laing will be using her knowledge of the physical, spiritual, and subtle/energetic bodies to aid in personal development, self-improvement, stress reduction, relaxation, and emotional relief using Rapid Eye Technology, Deep Emotion Release, Theta Healing, Zero Point Meridian Technique, and intuition in sessions (collectively “Energy Work”). Tamara may also offer use of iTeraCare, which provides scalar energy and terahertz frequencies.
Theoretical Basis
Energy Work is a collective term used to refer to a variety of treatments that are based on the use and modification of subtle energy fields. Biochemist and Nobel Prize winner for Medicine, Albert Szent-Gyori, MD said: “In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy.” Re-balancing one’s energy field is one of the oldest forms of medicine. Energy is understood as the life force energy that is in every living thing The prevailing premise of Energy Work is that the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies are important for physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional health, and for fostering well-being. Isackson and McFarland explain, “It is the ‘subtle energy system,’ fed by a universal intelligence or life force energy that intelligently guides the thousands of marvelous processes accomplished by our cells.”
Energy healing has roots in ancient systems of medicine that believe in a vital energy concept that courses around and through the body, comes from nature/God and influences health and vitality. The West is recognizing this missing energetic piece that has been included in other healing traditions for thousands of years. Richard Gerber, M.D. wrote: "There is an entire level of subtle energetic anatomy that is virtually unknown to physicians and health care professionals who propose to treat the whole human being. It is by influencing these subtle energetic pathways, which the life-force follows, that many alternative medicine practices are successful in affecting human illness." [1] Many new modalities are based on the emerging fields of energy medicine, energy psychology and frequency medicine.
"Energy healing and energy medicine are terms derived from the theory that a subtle biologic or spiritual energy surrounds and permeates the body and can be influenced for therapeutic effect…”[2] says a journal article. God speaks of a universal, life energy in scripture. Science, religion and energy medicine all speak of the energy used in this work while using completely different sets of vocabulary words. Confusion for beginners may simply be an issue of semantics.
Cutting edge science from Fritz Albert Popp on, shows that biophoton light regulates all body systems. Techniques of energy work address the energetic foundation of life - which is light. There is an energetic influence of thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and other afflicting energies –or INFORMATION--on the body that promote either wellness or dis-ease. Energy work considers consciousness an influence on health. "When we clear out negative energy it makes a space for this [spiritual] light to be drawn in and reclaimed," explains Dr. Ranae Johnson. We are receptacles of light or spiritual intelligence/information. William Tiller, PhD explains: “Interestingly, we now know that the body heals through frequency, vibration and resonance and it’s communicated through light.”
Disclosure
There is largely no specific regulation of licensing for Energy Work facilitators. However, professional certification is available. I understand that although Tamara has had extensive experience since 2004 in Energy Work, she is not licensed in the State of Utah or any other US state as a physician, psychologist, or other licensed health care provider, nor are her services licensed by the State of Utah or any other US state. Although energy healing methods are intended to help, it is not to be construed that the use of energy healing methods is the practice of medicine, psychology, psychotherapy or other licensed health care practice. Tamara offers services to clients with the intention to assist them in restoring balance and energetic flow in the body; thereby creating the opportunity for the mind/body to heal naturally.
I agree the energy healing methods Tamara offers are not intended to be a substitute for medical or psychological treatment and they do not replace the services of licensed health care providers. I agree to consult with my licensed health care provider for any specific health care problems. I understand that any information shared during our sessions is not to be considered a recommendation to stop seeing any of my health care professionals or to stop using prescribed medication, if any, without consulting with my health care professional, even if after a session it appears and indicates that such medication or treatment is unnecessary. I agree to take full responsibility for my self-care in the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual dimensions of my life. I agree to contact Tamara directly if I have any concerns about experiences with our Energy Work sessions and/or our relationship as practitioner and client.
I understand that if I am experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety, obsessive thought patterns, addictive tendencies, acute or chronic trauma, depression or other psychological conditions, I will seek clinical support along-side or in place of this intervention. Clinical support is also necessary for any dissociative disorders or personality disorders.
The nature of the interventions are designed for self-improvement, stress reduction, and emotional relief. The modalities used are not designed as a mental health intervention alone.
Description of Services Provided
Tamara is a certified Master Rapid Eye Technician that does not diagnose or counsel. Rapid Eye Technology (RET) is a process of movement of eyes with verbal input to process and release trauma without reliving incidents. Elements of NLP and EFT may be included. Much of the trapped energy comes out the eyes as well as the breath... Many clients experience tingling of the hands and feet or other signs of releasing. In addition to RET release work, "The other half of RET is education based upon 7 universal principles to successfully manage and understand life.” (Ranae Johnson, PhD; Reclaim Your Light Through the Miracle of Rapid Eye Technology, 1, 27-28) Clients are taught how to change their thoughts and perceptions... so as to avoid re-creating the same patterns again.
Deep Emotion Release (DER), expanded and refined by Tamara Laing over 20 years, is an intuitive method of releasing through the eyes. "The light of the body is the eye." (Matt. 6:22) DER involves gazing deeply into the eyes with non-judgment and love using specific verbal cues and intentions. It is an educational and spiritual process of connecting to the truth of who we really are. It begins by using Neurological Integration, as taught by Dr. Kenneth Fabian of New Mexico. Secondly, Deep Emotion Release involves moving up in consciousness, which is outlined on Dr. David Hawkins’ chart titled, “Map of Consciousness.” Clients learn to voice forgiveness, to change perceptions, to voice gratitude for trials, and perhaps even praise for priceless lessons learned from the ‘worst’ that has happened.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Emofree.com says,"EFT (often known as Tapping), is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. While related to acupuncture, EFT does not use needles. Instead, [it uses] a simple two-pronged process wherein we (1) mentally "tune in" to specific issues while (2) stimulating certain meridian points on the body by tapping on them with our fingertips. Properly done, EFT appears to balance disturbances in the meridian system and thus often reduces the conventional therapy procedures.” Tamara Laing is currently training in the Complete EFT Method now known as Zero Point Meridian Technique and is logging practice hours in this modality with willing clients.
Education and Training
Tamara received her Master Rapid Eye Technician certificate in July of 2006 from the RET Institute in Oregon; completed DNA 2 Theta Healing from Russell Loveland, DC and Jessica Daniel, DC in Feb. 2004 in SLC, UT; the Quantum Touch Course taught by Richard Gordon in Feb. 2005 in North Ogden, UT. Tamara received the Seichim Master Degree in the Reiki Seichim System of Natural Healing from Sylvia Laing in 2004 doing further class work until March 2018. She completed the Emotional Freedom Techniques Level 1 Training from Garland Landrith, PhD in Sandy, UT in 2010 and numerous other classes listed on Linkedin.com here. She has been working with clients since 2006 and is a past member of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISEEM) and joined the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) in February 2018.
She believes her own personal study of LDS insight on the Light of Christ, Truth, Spiritual Gifts, and roots of illness found in scripture provides levels of understanding applied in her Energy Work. She knows that true principles underlying Energy Work derive from the gospel of Jesus Christ and has taken this advice, “This is the belief and doctrine of the Latter-day Saints. Learn everything that the children of men know, and be prepared for the most refined society upon the face of the earth, then improve upon this until we are prepared and permitted to enter the society of the blessed.” (Brigham Young, qtd. in Journal of Discourses 16:11). Hence, she does not always practice modalities exactly as they were taught, but alters parts of them, such as wording, to align fully with her religious beliefs.
Risks and Benefits
Any exploration of one's past or current difficulties—common practices within energy psychology as well as many other personal development approaches—may evoke disquieting memories or emotions. While these may be markers on the path of personal evolution, the individual undertaking such exploration assumes any and all associated risks. Although the energy modalities shared are widely viewed as non-invasive and benign interventions into the body's energy system, any procedure that frees energies that have been blocked may cause mild reactions such as nausea, headaches, or temporary pains as the energies begin to move and reset themselves. While such reactions should be noted and common-sense assessments made, they often indicate that the procedures are working and benefits will persist after the discomfort has passed. It is also possible that a condition such as a cold or the flu was incubating, so it might appear that a cause-effect relationship was involved when it was actually a matter of coincidence.
